FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Whether you’re planning a wedding, elopement, or vow renewal, I’m here to help make your ceremony seamless, meaningful, and uniquely you. Below, you’ll find answers to common questions about the process, but if there’s anything else you’d like to know—just reach out!

Weddings

How far in advance should we book with you?

It’s best to book as soon as you have your wedding date confirmed, especially if your wedding falls in peak season (spring to early fall). Many couples book at least 6 months in advance, but I’ll always do my best to accommodate shorter timelines.

How do we figure out what our ceremony will look like?

We’ll have a discovery call or meeting where we’ll discuss your vision, values, and any traditions you’d like to include. From there, I’ll direct you to custom resources and examples for each element of your ceremony, and together we will craft a personalized ceremony script that reflects your love story and preferences.

What are some things we can do to make our ceremony special?

Personal vows, meaningful readings, unity rituals (like handfasting or candle lighting), music choices, and including family or cultural traditions are great ways to make your ceremony unique. We’ll go over all of this together. It’s fun to be creative!

Do you offer rehearsal ceremonies?

Yes! If you’d like a rehearsal, we can include this in your package for a $75 fee. I can be there to walk through the key moments with you and your wedding party to ensure everyone feels confident before the big day.

How many times can we communicate with you before the wedding?

Unlimited! I’m here to support you through the process, so whether it’s emails, calls, or check-ins, I’m happy to answer questions and make sure everything feels right.

What do we do after the ceremony?

During the ceremony, the Record of Solemnization of Marriage will be signed by you, your witnesses, and me as the officiant. Afterward, I will submit this document to the Ontario government. You can then apply for your official marriage certificate through ServiceOntario for your legal proof of marriage, approximately 12 weeks after your wedding date.

Elopements

What is an elopement, and how is it different from a traditional wedding?

An elopement is an intimate, often simpler way to say “I do,” usually with just the couple (and sometimes a few close guests). Unlike a traditional wedding, elopements focus on the moment rather than the production—no big guest lists, seating charts, or formal receptions. Just love, your way.

Where can we elope?

Anywhere that feels special to you! Whether it’s a scenic outdoor location, a cozy indoor setting, or even a meaningful spot from your love story, I’m happy to officiate at the location that makes your hearts happiest. If you need suggestions, I can help find the perfect place in Prince Edward County, Northumberland, Peterborough or Quinte Area

How long does an elopement ceremony last?

Elopement ceremonies are typically shorter than traditional weddings, usually between 5 and 15 minutes. But they can be as brief or as meaningful as you want—this is your moment, and I’ll help make it exactly what you envision.

Do we need witnesses for our elopement?

Yes! Ontario law requires two witnesses to sign your marriage license. If you don’t have witnesses, I can help arrange for them.

Do you charge travel fees for elopements?

For elopements within Prince Edward County, Northumberland, Peterborough and Quinte Area, there are no travel fees. If your location is outside these areas, a travel fee may apply—just reach out, and I’ll be happy to discuss the details.

Can you help us write our vows?

Yes! If writing vows feels overwhelming, I offer vow-writing guidance and templates to help you express exactly what’s in your heart. Whether you need full support or just a little inspiration, I’m happy to help.

Vow Renewals

What is a vow renewal?

A vow renewal is a beautiful way to reaffirm your love and commitment to each other. Unlike a wedding, it’s not a legal ceremony—it’s a personal and meaningful way to celebrate your journey together, whether you’ve been married for 5 years or 50.

Where can we have our vow renewal?

Anywhere that feels special to you! Whether it’s a scenic outdoor spot, a cozy venue, or even your own backyard, I can officiate at the location that best reflects your love story. I’m happy to offer suggestions in Prince Edward County, Northumberland, Peterborough or Quinte Area.

Do we need a marriage license for a vow renewal?

Nope! Since you’re already legally married, a vow renewal is purely symbolic and doesn’t require a marriage license or any legal paperwork.

How far in advance should we book our vow renewal?

You can plan a vow renewal as far in advance as you’d like or even on short notice if availability permits. 4+ weeks notice is ideal to personalize your ceremony and arrange any special elements.

Do we need to dress up for a vow renewal?

Only if you want to! Some couples dress formally, while others opt for a more casual look. This is your moment, so wear whatever feels special to you.

Are you available for weekday vow renewals?

I am typically not available for weekday vow renewals. My availability depends on my schedule, so reach out to check dates regardless!
